A great place for seafood, bit pricey but the taste is worth it. The fish and chips is one of the best I have had in England but the surprising ringer for me was the Sourdough bread with anchovy butter, tasted amazing!! We tried the fishcake and prawn cocktail as well and each were splendid in their own sense. Definitely a must visit if seafood is on your radar in Bath.

Ahoy there, seafood lovers! During my two-week voyage across the UK, I embarked on a serious mission: to find the absolute best fish and chips. After casting my net in nearly a dozen spots, I can confidently declare that The Scallop Shell in Bath was the undisputed catch of the trip! From the moment you step aboard, the charming ambiance hooks you, setting the perfect scene for a seaside feast. And what a feast it was! The fish and chips were simply outstanding – perfectly cooked, crispy, and incredibly fresh, proving they truly know their fish here. But the culinary treasures didn't stop there. We also savored their amazing scallops, cooked to perfection, and my wife landed a fantastic chicken dish that was just as impressive. A special shout-out must go to their in-house tartar sauce, which acted as the perfect First Mate to our fish and chips – a creamy, zesty companion that truly elevated every bite. It's clear they put a lot of care into their condiments. And just when you think the adventure is over, they present the check in a delightful treasure chest, adding a final, charming flourish to the experience. The Scallop Shell isn't just serving food; they're delivering a memorable culinary journey. If you're in Bath and seeking the ultimate fish and chips or just a brilliant seafood experience with a boatload of charm, this place is an absolute must-drop-anchor destination!

Firstly, as we entered we were greeted very warmly by the staff and then we were taken upstairs to the beautiful rooftop terrace area. For the food, it was the first time I've ever tried an oyster and I can certainly say it won't be the last time. The oyster was absolutely delicious and full of good flavours, I would definitely recommend it. The hake fillet and chips were also very tasty, as well as my girlfriends sea bass and chips which she enjoyed immensely. Overall, this is a lovely restaurant, though a little pricey. However, I would definitely come back here again when I visit Bath, as it's absolutely delicious!

The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered a few starters, and they were flawless. For the main course, we chose cod fish and chips, which were very fresh. The portions were generous, and everything was beautifully presented. The staff was warm, friendly, and attentive, making sure we felt well taken care of throughout our visit. The beautiful and cozy interior added to the experience, making it even more enjoyable and memorable. This is definitely a place worth visiting, and I highly recommend it!

Foods amazing, great service, easy to book online with few clicks. Real pet friendly place for eating, not just pets allowed. The seafood plate was so fresh that we decided to order 4 more oyster after. The sour dough and dip surprised me and the tomatoes in the salad were sweet and fresh. The fries matched well with the curry sauce, and wines were perfect, which were recommended by the staff. Staffs are super nice and friendly, my pets got their water bowl and treats. We had a lovely time there. I will definitely recommend people to eat here when visiting Bath.

Absolutely delicious! The tomato and feta salad and scallop starters were perfection, and the fish was beautiful and high quality. It was very fun to see them cooking everything right there before it’s brought fresh to your table. The service was great, we made a mistake in our order and they were very helpful and gracious. This is a must if you are visiting Bath!

Recent trip to Bath visited this restaurant at a recommendation of a local and wasn’t disappointed. Was told they had a lunch special and went in. We did not have reservations and lunch does get very busy but they squeezed us in. Lunch special was a fish and chips combo with tea or fish cake and chips combo and tea. The fried fish coating was super crispy and not greasy. The fish was a decent piece and super flaky the fish cake was nice but I found it was a bit potatoey and pasty but still nice. Chips were fluffy and not greasy. The tea surprised me. Why have tea with your fish and chips? Anyway it was a really decent cup of tea and not sure if it was the sugar they provided but I seriously loved the tea! We also got the sticky toffee pudding to share and man it was good! Menu had a lot of other options but more money so I stuck with the lunch special but would love to try them again in the future. They give the bill in a little treasure chest box and provide gold chocolate coins as the treat - such a cute memorable way to end the meal.

The venue was busy, which for Thursday evening was surprising. I'd recommend booking ahead as especially if it's more than two of you. The staff were friendly. Front of house was brilliant. The actual server who attended my table clearly didn't know the menu or the items on it. When asked what "hand dived" scallops were she clearly didn't know and made up an answer. I had to Google it to find out. She also couldn't describe how items were served, for example when asked if the scallops come in their shells she advised yes but open. Clearly (from the photo), there are decorative shells from an entirely different sea creature! The food was tasty and well presented. Service was a good speed. They asked if I want the food in sequence or all together, which I find a nice option when dining alone as sometimes I want to take my time and sometimes I don't.
